12:30 AM- Arrive at Grayslake North High School

1:00 PM- Uniform Inspection

1:50 PM- Leave parking lot for Warm-Ups

2:10 PM- Warm Up (Field B)

2:40 PM- Travel to Stadium

2:50 PM- Performance

3:15 PM- Change out of uniform/Reload truck

3:26 PM- Watch Elk Grove HS and Grayslake North

3:45 PM- Awards Ceremony

4:15 PM- Reload Busses, leave Grayslake North

4:45 PM- Arrive at ACHS and unload truck

 

 

 

 

 

 

ILMEA PREP WORKSHOPS

 

JAZZ: 

The first will be a new ILMEA Jazz Workshop Day on Saturday, August 22 from 9am -2pm at our Chicago Campus. All students interested in auditioning for ILMEA in jazz this October are welcome to join us. I will have all the audition material including Foo Birds of A Feather parts, Billie’s Bounce lead sheets, and Jim Snidero etudes (district I) if students need them. The morning will include sectionals with guest clinicians, sight-reading with members of the SXU Jazz Ensemble, improvisation workshops, and mock auditions which will include a recording of their performance to help them as they prepare.

There is a $10 fee, which will include a lunch for the students. It is an open invitation and students do not need to pre-register. RSVPs are welcome either by phone (773) 298-3420 or email: salmon@sxu.edu. Attached is a pdf flier if you would like to pass a-long to your students.

 

We are looking forward to this event and hope many of your students can come out. I also hope to see them all performing in Peoria in January.

 

Other jazz events this year at SXU include our second annual Jazz Guitar Workshop Day on Saturday, November 21 at 9am. This year I will be focusing on solo jazz guitar arranging techniques.

Finally, we will be hosting our second SXU Jazz Combo Festival on Saturday, March 19, 2016. We had a great time in our debut last year and hope to continue to grow this wonderful new festival. More information regarding these events will be coming soon.
